ARTISAN Therese
moved to Bend as an elementary student in the early
1960s. She began sewing Barbie doll clothes as a young
girl, learning tips from her mother. When she was old
enough to join 4-H, she began working on people-sized
dresses, earning assorted ribbons at the county fair.
After using her college degree teaching elementary
students for six years, she became a stay-at-home mom
where the opportunity to sew garments for others "dropped
into her lap." More than 20 years later, she has
sewn items ranging from fish egg nets to futons, and
three-piece suits to silk wedding gowns. Therese continues
to love the variety of texture, fiber and design. She
has been doing a beautiful job of creating ready-to-wear
garments from Imperial Stock Ranch handmade wool fabrics.
