FIBER ARTISAN

After learning to knit from an old family friend, I started out knitting baby gifts for all the neighbors. Then in 1976, I went to a home show in Portland and was introduced to the knitting machine. So much faster! Wanting to be a stay-at-home mom, knitting for hire was a great option for "working out" while "staying in." So for two years, I worked for a company that made ski wear. Wanting to expand my use and knowledge of the knitting machine, I purchased the company I had been working for in 1982. For the past 20 years, I have owned my own yarn and machine knitting shop. During that time, Ive taken many classes and at least two seminars each year focused on techniques involving the knitting machines.

When I was approached by Jeanne of the Imperial Stock Ranch to make their beautiful wraps and scarves which utilized a weaving technique on the knitting machine, I jumped at the chance. I am so glad I did. Now I am part of a growing business, and have made wonderful new friends as well, that love the fiber world as much as I do. Dell lives with her husband in The Dalles, Oregon.
